The Governor of the Central Bank of Belize, in his capacity as Registrar of Credit Unions (the Registrar), updates the members of St. Francis Xavier Credit Union Limited (SFXCU) and the public that the Administrator to SFXCU, Mr. Martin Marshalleck, has reported that the operations of the credit union continue safely and without disruption.
The Administrator has met with staff, some members, and other stakeholders, to provide updates and respond to queries and concerns. The process of establishing the requisite governance framework to protect the equities of members has begun. Importantly, the Administrator has commenced weekly reporting to the Registrar as required under the terms of engagement.
Members of SFXCU are also advised that in accordance with section 61 (8) of the Credit Unions Act, 2011, Chapter 314 of the Laws of Belize, the Registrar has approved for the Administrator to call a special meeting of members in June 2023 to report on the affairs of the credit union and the steps taken by the Administrator to protect their equities. These steps include a subsequent audit into cash management practices and the continuing investigation into specific instances of suspected misappropriation of members’ funds.
The Registrar thanks members of SFXCU for their commitment and understanding as the Administrator and the staff of SFXCU work arduously and honestly to protect their interests.

Actualizacion sobre St. Francis Xavier Credit Union Limited
El Gobernador del Banco Central de Belice, en su capacidad de Registrador de Uniónes de Crédito (el Registrador), informa a los miembros de St. Francis Xavier Credit Union Limited (SFXCU) y al público en general que el Administrador de SFXCU, el Sr. Martin Marshalleck, ha informado que las operaciones de SFXCU continúan de manera segura y sin interrupción.
El Administrador se ha reunido con el personal, algunos miembros y otras partes interesadas para proporcionar actualizaciones y responder a consultas e inquietudes. El Administrador ha comenzado el proceso de establecimiento de gobernación necesario para proteger el patrimonio de los miembros. Es importante destacar que el Administrador ha comenzado a informar semanalmente al Registrador según lo exigen los términos del compromiso.
También se le informa a los miembros de SFXCU que, de conformidad con la sección 61 (8) de la Ley de Uniónes de Crédito (Credit Unions Act) del 2011, Capítulo 314de las Leyes de Belice, el Registrador aprobó que el Administrador convoque una reunión especial de miembros en junio de 2023 para informar sobre los asuntos de la unión de crédito y las medidas tomadas por el Administrador para proteger los intereses de los miembros. Estos pasos incluyen una auditoría posterior sobre las prácticas de gestión de efectivo y la continuación de la investigación de casos específicos por sospecha de apropiación indebida de los fondos de miembros.
