The Central Bank of Belize (Central Bank) is pleased to announce the successful launch of the upgraded Automated Payments and Securities Settlement System (APSSS 2.0).
The upgrade, which was carried out in collaboration with the Government of Belize and domestic financial institutions, is part of the Central Bank’s ongoing efforts to modernize Belize’s National Payment System and facilitate monetary policy implementation and capital market development in Belize.
APSSS 2.0 improves payment processing efficiency, encompasses the SWIFT ISO 20022 international messaging standard, and enhances the security of payments. This new message format enables richer, more structured, and globally standardized data in financial transactions.
