The Central Bank of Belize reminds the public that effective Tuesday, 30 August 2022, no cheques drawn on the Belize Bank Corporation Limited (BBCL) will be cleared in the Automated Payment and Security Settlement System. On 22 February 2022, the Central Bank of Belize notified the public of the six-month transition period where the Belize Bank Limited (BBL) would honour cheques drawn on BBCL, which ends on 29 August 2022.
The Central Bank, as industry regulator, reiterates its continued effective oversight of the Belize financial system and will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders to optimize banking options and services available to the Belizean public and the business community.
