The Central Bank of Belize (the Central Bank), the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), and the Financial Services Commission (FSC) have signed governance agreements establishing the framework for the shared use of the Sanctions Registry System (SRS).

The SRS is a secure supervisory platform developed by the Central Bank, and designed to support the management of sanctions-related information and strengthen Belize’s framework for combatting money laundering, terrorist financing, and other forms of financial crime. By improving information management, data retrieval, and analytical capability, the system enables a more efficient, consistent, and risk-based approach to supervision.

The governance agreements provide the legal and operational framework for participating authorities to access and use the SRS in support of their respective statutory responsibilities. While each institution will utilise the system independently within its own supervisory environment, the shared platform promotes greater consistency in regulatory information management and enhances opportunities for collaboration where appropriate.

The initiative reflects the continued commitment of the Central Bank, the FIU, and the FSC to strengthening inter-agency cooperation through the effective use of technological innovation, improved information sharing, and modern supervisory practices. It also builds upon the existing Memorandum of Understanding between the three institutions and reinforces their collective efforts to safeguard the integrity and resilience of Belize’s financial system.

The Central Bank, FIU, and FSC remain committed to working collaboratively to strengthen Belize’s regulatory framework, enhance supervisory effectiveness, and promote a safe, sound, and resilient financial system.
