Central Bank Mourns Passing of Former Governor Mr. Clifton Robert Swift
The Central Bank of Belize is saddened by the death of former Governor Mr. Clifton Robert Swift, known to Central Bankers and friends as R.C. Swift, who passed away on Sunday, 30 April 2023.
R.C. Swift was appointed the second Governor of the Central Bank in November 1983 and served as Governor until January 1986. He served as Director of the Board for the Central Bank from September 1998 to January 2008. R.C. Swift also served the Government of Belize as an exemplary public officer in various capacities, such as Accountant General, Deputy Financial Secretary, Speaker of the House, and Contractor General.
As we remember the remarkable life of former Governor Mr. Clifton Robert Swift, the Board of Directors, Management, and Staff of the Central Bank join the family in mourning a departed leader who served this institution and the nation well.
We express our condolences to his children and the rest of his family during this time of loss.
